Top 10 Worst Hit Songs of 1956

Top 10 Worst Hit Songs of 1956 1956 was the first year to have a full official Year-End Top 100 posted by the Billboard magazine. There do exist lists for years before this, but no official ones go up to 100. Now, I'd be very interested to know what the Year-End Top 100's would've been for 1950-1955, using Billboard's methodology at that time. If anyone knows if a list like this has been done, please link in the comments. I'm not sure if I'd do worst lists for those years, but I would like a chance to go through the entire 50s. As for 1956 specifically, I don't know how many times I can say 50s pop music has not held up well before I sound like a broken record. This was yet another bad and boring year for the Hot 100. The main trends here are rockabilly, doo wop, and pre-rock and roll pop, as that genre hadn't died out yet. A lot of it was forgettable and sounded the same. And now, let's go through the worst that pop music in 1956 had to offer. #10: ...

Top 12 Worst Hit Songs of 2000 2000, the first year of the new millennium. Hard to believe the 2000s are going to be three decades ago in just four years. Anyway, as a year for music, 2000 was okay. Prominent genres included hip hop, teen pop, eurodance, country, alt rock, and everyone's favorite, post grunge. But none were as omnipresent as R&B, which dominated at least half the 2000 Year-End list. Yeah, this wasn't the most diverse year for the radio. But now, here are the worst songs radio stations played this year. Let's go. #12: Eiffel 65- Blue (Da Ba Dee) The one thing Eiffel 65's Blue (Da Ba Dee) has going for it is a good piano riff. That riff is insanely catchy, instantly memorable and serves as a great baseline to build a song off of. Unfortunately this song has nothing to offer beyond that baseline. The production is standard and nothing you haven't heard done better in a thousand other eurodance songs. The only thing that might set it apart is how lo...

Top 10 Worst Hit Songs of 1957

Top 10 Worst Hit Songs of 1957 I didn't even think I'd do this list. But then I though "eh, what the hell". So I listened through the 1957 Year-End Top 100, which was quite a bit more difficult to find than the 1958 list. The Top 50 is on Wikipedia, linked here , but the bottom half was a chore to find. Still, I was able to do it, and just like with the worst songs of 1958 list, I'll post screenshots of the Year-End at the end of this blogpost. I haven't said this very clearly before, but I kinda just don't like 50s music. A lot of it has not held up and sounds either boring, cheap or annoying. Or all three. 1957 thankfully did not have as many novelty songs as 1958 and 1959, but it was still a pretty bad and boring year for the Hot 100. The main trend this year was rockabilly, with doo wop and R&B following closely behind. There were also a lot of cover songs this year. There were literally eight sets of the same song on the YE list. With all that sai...
